Indoor dining for everyone , Tuesday Feb 22

Hi everyone, we are happy to announce that we will be opening up our indoor dining space for EVERYONE to enjoy, starting Tuesday, Feb 22. This is a week in advance of the province giving their blessing, not requiring us, as a food establishment, to ask for vaccine passports. Based on the science, we feel that it’s just as safe to end the segregation next week. We realize this is a contentious issue for some, so feel free to wait another week or two, to visit us. Your choice. You will be welcome anytime. Thanks for all the support from all of you. See you next week!

Note: we do not take reservations. Sorry.

Opening Tuesday Feb 1 – take out and retail only

Hi everyone, just a quick note that we are opening up again on Tuesday February 1 for take out food and retail shopping only. We are still firmly opposed to the vaccine passport system, and cannot participate in state sponsored medical discrimination, hence our continued take out only model.

I hope you can still come out in the dead of winter and buy a coffee or some food, we’d really appreciate the continued support. We had such an out pouring of support in December from so many people, words do not do justice to how it lifted our spirits. Thanks to all!

Hopefully the mandates are done soon, but  even so we will press on for now. Let’s not live in fear any longer!

See you in February!

Closed for the rest of 2021 and scone pick up day

Hi all, some bad news. We had an exposure to covid over the holidays, and whilst we have tested negative so far, in the interest of public safety, we have decided to close for the remainder of 2021. We will also proceed with our planned January shutdown.

We are planning to have a scone pick up day, on January 14, so up until January 12, if you are interested in picking up some scones, please shoot us an email at info@rumbletum.ca, or call 519-664-1820 and leave a message. We will confirm all orders and arrange a pickup time for January 14. Thanks.

Holiday hours

Merry Christmas everyone, and a blessed new year. The following will be our hours over this season and into the new year.

CLOSED Dec 25,26,27

OPEN – Dec 28-31

CLOSED all of January ( for rest, and renovations)

Stay tuned for our reopening hours, beginning of February

Thanks for all the amazing generosity and support and encouraging conversations we’ve had with many of you, it really helps lift our spirits.

No Indoor Dining starting Thursday Dec 2.

We have received our first fine for violating the Reopening Act, specifically not enforcing vaccine passport checks. We believe asking for personal medical information violates your personal privacy. More over, the governmental coercion of a medical procedure that has ever decreasing benefits and unknown potential long term effects is simply astounding. We believe this pandemic does NOT constitute a great enough threat to health and safety to warrant this blatant violation of our rights, and I am ashamed of those in power resorting to this level of authoritarianism under the guise of safety. The science is NOT clear and presented openly for us to examine, but rather dictated from on high, and those who would ask questions, are ridiculed ,ignored and ultimately cancelled.

We have attempted to operate in a way that respected everyones privacy, and right to choose, and have been open about not checking vaccination status, and left the choice up to you, the individual, whether to enter our establishment. The choice was yours. Unfortunately, some have not respected our decision, and have complained to public health, I suppose feeling that they were doing everyone a favour. (For your safety of course.) Well, a fine is on the way for us, to teach us a lesson, and to punish us for disobeying the ones above, who know best, despite them being unable to explain to us, how anyone at all, is safe in our establishment, vaccinated, or not, given the low efficacy of the vaccine against contracting covid.

So………., we will accept the fine, but are unwilling to jeopardize Rumbletum financially any further with more fines( we still have quite a financial hole to crawl put of from the last 18 months) so, while still holding on to our firm belief in the unjustness of the vaccine mandates, we will close our indoor dining space indefinitely, and go to a take out only model. Retail shopping and take out will continue to be available.

I hope you can understand our decision, (even if you disagree) and with your continued support, we hope to survive this difficult season. Thank you.

The Rumbletum team

CLOSED SEPT 19-26

Just a quick note that we will ne closed the week of Sept 19-26 for a family get away. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it’s one of the few perks of being your own boss.

Thanks for your understanding.

Closed for family holidays July 17-25

We will be closing the cafe down for  a week in the middle of July for a family holiday. So we’ll be closed from Saturday July 17- Sunday July 25, and back open monday, July 26.

Mark your calendars.

Thanks for all the support, back opening again. It’s been very steady here, and we’re so thankful. So nice to see so many familiar faces, and lots of new ones too! Or at least eyes…..faces are still covered unfortunately, but hopefully soon, it’ll be back to normal.

For sure Opening June 14 , hours 8-3

So, it is a go for June 14! We’ve been busy giving our place a little facelift, with some new paint and gardens, and have made our front patio a bit cozier.

Our hours will be 8-3 once again, Monday-Saturday. We will be serving our full menu, along with a few breakfast oriented sandwiches from 8-2:30.

Dining will be limited to our outdoor patios for the time being, so reservations recommended, but not required.

Looking forward to getting back to normal, one step at a time.

Tentatively opening June 14

So, looks like the plan for us, is to be opening for take out and outdoor dining, on June 14. Yay!, This is still a tentative date, as the governmental folks may change the details. But were hoping things stay on course for June 14. We are not 100% sure what our hours will be yet, but we’ll figure that out soon. Stay safe. See you all again soon.

Guess what! Onto the third shutdown!

Hi all, so the powers that be have come up with a great solution to this Covid situation. A province wide shutdown. Sounds like a great idea. Should do the trick. As a result, we are no longer allowed to have indoor or patio dining.

Soooooo. this means this coming Easter saturday, April 3 will be the last day we are open for take out , and retail shopping. After that we will be closed for entire month of April. Sorry about that.

We hope this will all be done soon. So, if you are interested in scones, please call ahead to order for Saturday, Apr 3. Thanks.

Happy Easter! God bless.
