We get quite a few requests asking for us to increase the amount of baked goods we sell. While we are endlessly grateful that our customers appreciate our hard work, and homemade treats, we do all of our own baking here at Rumbletum, from scratch. Now when I say we, I actually mean Heidi. She also makes all of the soup we serve, from scratch, including the broth. We also have children, with whom we try to spend as much time as we can, you know to be parents and all that being a parents entails, which can be time consuming. So suffice it to say, as many other people are doing, we are balancing the work and family thing as best as we can. Running Rumbletum is so much fun and beyond rewarding, however it does take up a lot of our time, as besides the regular business hours we are open, there are many after hours things to accomplish as well. We could save some time and get some of our baked goods from another source, and maybe not make our own soup, but we feel that this would sacrifice the quality of the products we serve, and while we wouldn’t consider ourselves health nuts, we do try to watch what we eat, and would rather bake with real ingredients, rather than import chemical laden baking and soup.
As well, we are not a bakery. Generally speaking, a bakery exclusively bakes and has 20+ different items to choose from. We are a café and we love the café life. We do try to have a decent selection of quality, homemade treats to select from, as well as desserts to compliment our coffee. Because our treats are baked fresh, there have been times later in the day, that we’ve sold out of items as well. We do try our best to avoid that but we also strive to stay to true to the saying, ‘quality over quantity.’

We know this post is about five years old now, and you’ll likely be surprised to be receiving a message from us now, but we’ve given the website a little bit of a makeover and in doing so, realized how many comments, very lovely comments, we’ve neglected to respond to. Although five years old, we still appreciate your kind words.
We were closed for the summer, and now that we’re open again, we’re planning on doing some more fun events including games nights. We’ll be updating our website and social media much more frequently from now on, so stay tuned for updates on upcoming events and other fun things. Five years late is still fashionably late right? I guess you could say we really follow the ‘better late than never’ saying here at Rumbletum. In all seriousness, we really do appreciate your kind message. We’re currently in the process of revamping the website, and we’re setting an early new years resolution to be more present online, this means replying to awesome messages like yours, and updating our website and social media more consistently as well. We’ve expanded our team a little bit, so that we don’t have to sacrifice family time, it’s all about balance! Again, thank you for message.
